South End Church to be Razed for Luxury Condos

The South End Landmark District Commission (SELDC) recently approved a plan to demolish the “Jesus Saves” church at 5-10 St. George Street and construct a 33-unit luxury residential complex in its place. the 45,000-square-foot building will be six stories high, according to the proposal from owner and developer, Peter Zagorianakos. Homes will be mostly one and two bedroom units, with a sprawling penthouse on the sixth floor. Plans also include 22 garage parking spaces. Demolition is scheduled to begin the summer of 2009.
