AccorHotels, operators of the Singapore-based Raffles hotel, has announced the signing of definitive agreements to debut the first mixed-use luxury Raffles property in North America.

Scheduled to open in 2021, the new Raffles Hotel & Residences will be a welcoming oasis of redefined elegance in Boston’s vibrant Back Bay neighborhood.

What is Raffles?

Raffles is a chain of luxury hotels founded in 1887 with the opening of its original hotel in Singapore. As of 2018, Raffles Hotels & Resorts operates luxury hotels in Singapore, Cambodia, China, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Maldives, France, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, and the United Arab Emirates.

With the planning development of Raffles Hotel & Residences in Back Bay, this will be the introduction of the luxury hotel chain in North America.

Raffles is partnering with developers Jordan Warshaw and Gary and Jeffrey Saunders to plan out the project.

Several condo projects have found success partnering with high-end hotel brands, including Back Bay’s Mandarin Hotel and the Four Seasons at One Dalton. Warshaw expects the pairings to attract urban professionals and affluent suburbanites who want to move downtown.

“We are proud to announce the introduction of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, one of our portfolio’s most iconic and beloved luxury brands, to Boston, an American city with a powerful history of cultural significance and landmark events,” says Kevin Frid, COO of AccorHotels North & Central America. “As the only Raffles property on the continent, the hotel will bring to North America the unparalleled standards of excellence for which the Raffles brand is celebrated. We are certain that Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences will become a legendary address for unsurpassed service, extraordinary style and distinctive experience for years to come.”

Raffles Luxury Residences – Coming 2021

The 33-story, 440-foot Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences tower will be developed at the corner of Stuart Street and Trinity Place.

The property will include 147 hotel guest rooms and 146 condominium residences. Highlights include signature Raffles hotel services, lively public spaces including a two-story sky lobby above Copley Square, a state-of-the-art Spa and indoor pool, a rooftop garden terrace and lounge, and several dining venues.

Residences will be comprised of pied-a-terre suites, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences.

Residents will have access to the exclusive membership of their residential loyalty program, offering VIP status and special benefits within the AccorHotels portfolio.

Its convenient location places it in the heart of Back Bay, moments from Copley Square, the Prudential Tower and mall, and the wealth of shopping destinations and restaurants lining Boylston and Newbury Streets.

Jordan Warshaw expressed his enthusiasm about the project and its location in a recent press release. “Raffles is one of the most iconic names in hotels in the world, and Back Bay is one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the United States. It’s a logical and perfect match that will further enhance Boston’s reputation as a world-class city”.
