Boston’s booming Seaport District is procuring yet another monumental development with the construction of Echelon along Seaport Boulevard. While we’ve seen several exterior renderings illustrating the towers’ massing and distinctive design, we’re finally getting a glimpse into the stunning amenity and residential spaces occupying the 1.3 million square-foot development.

Procuring a First-Rate Design Firm

The developers of Echelon Seaport, Cottonwood Management, have released a statement expressing their interests in “building on our Boston roots to be part of the city’s most exciting neighborhood as it continues to take shape.”

“These Seaport parcels offer a prime opportunity for us to launch our real estate platform on the East Coast and in a city that holds special meaning to our team,” Cottonwood founder and CEO Alexander Shing describes. “As we finalize our development plans for Pacels M1 and M2, our aim is to create a compelling mixed-use community and contribute to the city’s dynamic vision for the Seaport and Boston’s skyline.”

Cottonwood has secured the talents of noted designer Jeffrey Beers for the interior composition of the Echelon. For thirty years, Beers has been a go-to architect for top chefs and hoteliers who want their projects to stand out and his skills in glassblowing lend his projects a truly artisanal approach. Echelon will be Beers’ first residential project in Boston; a feat that he is greatly anticipating.

Reflecting on what sets Echelon apart from other residential developments in the city, Beers remarked, “In a single word: community. We have a wealth of amenities, especially outdoor spaces, which blend into indoor spaces, each servicing diverse functions and appealing to different tastes. They share a common goal: Echelon’s amenities are an extension of the home, they are about expanding the definition of your residence, bringing people together and creating connectivity.”

Beers will be designing amenity spaces including the Echelon’s lobby, sky lounges, fitness space, outdoor pool terraces, wine room and library. Beers anticipates that the developments’ design will be influenced by the vibrant Fort Point neighborhood and incorporate a seamless blend of modern luxury with industrial stylings. Further amenities include a sprawling indoor basketball court, an indoor relaxation pool, golf simulator, and children’s playroom.

About the Project

Two of Echelon’s three towers will be comprised of approximately 447 luxury condominium residences and the third tower will harbor over 300 luxury apartments. In total, the three buildings will include 747 residences and 125,000 square-feet of retail; totaling 1.3 million square-feet. The Echelon’s retail and restaurant space will be located at ground-level, surrounded by a new pedestrian mall and courtyard. The outdoor spaces and pedestrian walkways will make use of the surrounding Seaport environment. Parking for 560 vehicles will be provided in an underground garage.

Warehouses, shipping piers and railroad tracts create an environment of industrial authenticity surrounding this address in the Seaport District. Adjacent to the Financial District and close to South Station, the neighborhood is an attractive location for both Boston artists and the urban chic. Exciting events are always happening in Boston’s flourishing “Innovation District”.
